The Paresky Center is the student center at Williams College. It was designed by Polshek Partnership Architects and opened on February 16, 2007, after two years of construction, as part of the Williams College Winter Carnival celebration.[1] The building is named after David Paresky, class of 1960, and his family.[2] The Paresky Center includes student mailboxes, Whitman's Grill (one of the three dining halls on campus), the snack bar, the '82 Grill, several meeting rooms, study rooms, and the offices for many student groups, such as the Williams Record and the Office of Campus Life.[3] The Great Room in Paresky Center is called Baxter Hall, named after the old student center at the college and the school's 10th president.[4] Paresky was designed to reduce energy as part of the college's initiative in "going green." For example, some of the rooms include occupancy sensors and, when unoccupied, are lit and heated or cooled minimally.[5]
